Lord, I want to be just like You'Cause he wants to be just like me. I want to be a holy example for his innocent eyes to see. Help me be a living Bible, Lord that my little boy can read. I want to be just like You'Cause he wants to be like me.
This (above) picture makes me think that Thomas is like show me Dad. "Teach me how it works, Dad." Jim is so patient and loving with Thomas. He is such an amazing role model for him, too. I know Jim has waited for these moments for a very long time. I am so blessed to see how they both love eachother.
I can't get Thomas to listen to a story for the life of me. But when Daddy cuddles up on the floor with Thomas and opens a book, it's like a magical moment happens. I know Thomas loves having his Daddy's attention. I guess it's a boy thing.

Park play days are fun. A lot of the time that is what Jim & Thomas do for fun. Jim will either put Thomas in the stroller and tote the ball and diaper bag to the park to play. Or Jim loads Thomas in his truck and they head out to play for a while. I love taking Thomas to the park, too. But I think I'd like to save most of those moments for Jim & Thomas.
Jim has blessed my life in so many ways. He is such a brave, strong, hard working and loving husband. I know we have waited a long time to be enjoying parenthood. We both know that things could change with the adoption situation. However, there are many many details (haven't shared with blog world) that gives us strong hope and trust in God. I couldn't think of anyone else I'd want to go through this journey with than my amazing husband, Jim!! I look forward to raising Thomas up to appreciate his Daddy, too. This summer will be different for all of us. I know it will be hard for Jim to leave on fire assignments. It will be different for me to be the only parent for days, instead of hours. I know Thomas will miss playing with his Daddy, too. Thankfully we have technology that can provide an opportunity for Jim to talk to Thomas on the computer and see him on video or talk on the phone to him. This video is so cute and makes me think of how excited Thomas will be to see his Daddy come home from long fire assignments. Thank you Jim for being the best husband and awesome Daddy anyone could wish for. We truly are blessed.

A Husband is only as good as his Wife. I am the one who is truly blessed. Becoming a new (instant) Dad has been awesome. The Father/Son bonding time makes it difficult to go to work and driving back home seems to take forever. I envy Trish sometimes cause' she get's Thomas for more hours than me but she is an awesome Mommy and it shows in Thomas.
Jim...
How nice! Love the video.
Trish, I think it will be ok when Jim goes on fire assignments. When John was 2, Roger was in Japan. It was cute when John said Roger was at work "in da pan".
When Roger came home after 13 months, I was worried that John wouldn't know him. He had missed almost half John's life. I didn't need to worry at all--John went right to him. I think it is a boy "link" they have. It just "is" and it's amazing.
So, during fire season, you get bond with Thomas and every night, talk about what Jim is doing and how important it is. Then when Jim gets back...step back and just watch. It's cool to see the dad/son thing. So very cool.
:o)
